Falco alopex

Sedentary in some intermediate areas, but generally moves S from drier areas across whole range in dry season (Oct-Mar) to attend bush fires, then N with rains to nest on rocky outcrops; some vagrants further S into Kenya, NE Tanzania and NE Zaire in Sept-Feb after breeding. Population breeding furthest S, in Turkana Valley (Kenya), may be resident.
