young birds disperse over hundreds of kilometres |
Sedentary. Adults do not normally range further than c. 10 km from area of colony, thus only small distance
beyond foraging range. Young birds can disperse over hundreds of kilometres, sometimes straying outwith limits
of breeding range. (del Hoyo J, Elliott A, Sargatal J (eds), 1992)
