Verbreitungskarte von Coracias naevia In the northern tropics it is mainly sedentary in the southern soudanian and northern Guinean woodland zones, mainly a wet-season visitor (May-September) to the Sahelian zone, and mainly a dry-season visitor (November- March) to southern Guinean woodlands. In Gambia it is resident, but also a visitor in September-June, with conspicuous passage in May and June. In Ivory Coast it is fairly common in the dry-season, October-May, south to the forest border, but in the rains (June-September) much scarcer, and absent south of 9 N. In East Africa it is nomadic but tend to move south in winter; it was abundant in southeast Kenya in March-July 1984, when there was severe drought in the northeast. In Namibia and Botswana it is commoner in November-April, the wet season, than in May-October, the dry-season; in Zimbabwe it is commonest in May-December; and in Zambia it is mainly a non-breeding visitor from May (sometimes March) to October.   (Fry CH, Fry K, Harris A, 1992)
