The nominate race is resident, although in Zimbabwe, Zambia and on Zanzibar some disperse for quite some
distance after breeding. C. c. lorti is a breeding visitor to northwest Somalia from late April to mid September,
after which there is a mass migration to wintering grounds in south Somalia; a few winter in northwest Somalia.
Those breeding in south Somalia and northeast Kenya are partial migrants for a few hundred kilometres
southward within Kenya; they then occur with nominate caudata along Tana River and in Tsavo East National
Park, from December to March. (Fry CH, Fry K, Harris A, 1992)
